Instructional Design for Online Learning

In this course, I developed a 5-week blended learning writing course, where I carefully planned the course outline, created the content, and used feedback from stakeholders to make key improvements. Throughout this process, I learned the importance of continuous feedback and how it plays a crucial role in refining a course to meet the needs of students. This experience has taught me how to create a more user-friendly and engaging learning environment while enhancing the overall learning experience. As online learning continues to grow in significance today and into the future, this project has reinforced the value of creating adaptable, accessible, and effective digital learning experiences for students.

Implementation Outline

I created an outline for my blended learning writing course by using Fink's 3-Column Table to ensure that all elements of the course were aligned. By clearly defining the learning outcomes, designing corresponding activities like collaborative assignments, and selecting assessments such as constructed responses, I was able to outline a structured and effective learning experience that supported student success. Read the full outline here.

Implementation of Learning Design

Using Fink's 3-Column Table, I was able to design a 5-week course focused on helping students improve their writing. The course is centered around the RACE Strategy (Restate, Answer, Cite, Explain), which guides students in creating Short Constructed Responses (SCRs). By aligning learning outcomes, activities, and assessments, I ensured that each component of the course supports students in mastering this strategy and enhancing their writing skills. Take a look at my course here.

Usability and Reflection

The usability reflection process greatly enhanced my course. By incorporating valuable feedback from stakeholders and peers, I was able to refine the learning experience and promote student growth. You can find my usability test and reflection here.
